Verzoek uit Amerika

Er is een verzoek binnen gekomen uit Amerika.  Mevrouw Bakker komt aanstaande januari naar Beerta om het huis van haar voorouders te bezoeken. Ze zou het leuk vinden om familieleden te ontmoeten. My Opa's name was actually Geert Viet.  He was born January 30, 1896 in Beerta.  He was the first of

their family to immigrate to the US sometime in 1914.  While still living in Beerta I think he was a carpenter as

he made boxes, trunks and coffins.

We do not have an address of that house, only the picture.  His father's name was Berend Viet, born

January 18, 1866, also in Beerta  I think he was a shoemaker or cobbler.  He immigrated to the US sometime after

1914,  probably in the 1920s.

His mother's name was Jaunjtie Aukes Viet. I do not have her birthdate. I think that she died in Beerta and did not

immigrate. They were married in 1892.  They had 4 children:

Bouwgien - March 14, 1893

Geert - Opa - January 30, 1896

Twins - Hilko and John - November 6, 1899
